~DUST IN THE WIND~

It was a rainy day on angle island and Knuckles was out in the rain. He shook him self dry like a dog. Then he yawned, he looked over to his right to see his wife’s tent. Rouge ,unlike Knuckles hated the rain. If it got in her ear it could hurt. So Knuckles bought her a tent to sleep in so she doesn’t get sick or wet. as he walked over to her tent he slipped into the mud. He saw a worm in the mud and got an idea. He picked it up and walked silently over to her, he gently placed the worm on her face and ran out of the tent. He zipped the tent up and ran back where he was sleeping earlier. He pretended to sleep.

“Ahhhhhhhhh ew ew ew ew.” Rouge yelled struggling to unzip the tent.

Out of the tent she slipped and fell face first into the mud. Then she picked up a ball of mud and chucked it and hit him in the face. Then every thing turned gray, and there was purple beam that hit Knuckles point blank in the heart. Then she herd a song.

Rouge screamed and woke up in a cold titanium cage, all the memories of the previous day coming back to her. She looked around, in horror she saw poor Knuckles mounted to the wall with titanium cuffs on his wrists and ankles, they were bloody....vary bloody. They looked painful vary painful.

“Knuckles....Knuckie.” Rouge whispered

Knuckles looked up revealing scares and bloody gashes all over his face. She gasped, she had never seen so many gashes and scratches on his face before. He looked back down, his face covered with his dread locks again.

“I don’t want you to see me like this.....Rouge” Knuckles softly said

‘Sense when does he call me Rouge other than bat-girl or thief..........oh gosh something must be wrong...’   Rouge thought

“Knuckie is there something wrong” Rouge asked



“Yes vary, wrong.....” Knuckles sadly said

“What, Knuckie?” Rouge said

“I-I-I.......I failed to......to....protect you......I failed to protect you Rouge.....I really screwed up......and....and......It got you hurt.” Knuckles said as tears began running down his face.

“I thought you hated me Knuckles...” Rouge said

“To tell you the truth I never hated you.......I....I love you Rouge.” Knuckles said

“I love you too.....Knuckie.” Rouge said

“You do.” Knuckles said looking up again.

“Your only saying that because you feel sorry for me......aren’t you...and don’t try to hide it!!!!” Knuckles snapped.

“No Knuckie I really love you I Swire on my life Knuckles” Rouge said as a tear ran down her face.

“I’m sorry Rouge.........I’m so sorry........” Knuckles cried

“What is it now hun.” Rouge said

“First I faille to protect you.....now I made you cry”......Knuckles said wile tears continue to run down his face.

“Don’t cry Knuckie.....If I wasn’t in here I would give you a hug...” Rouge said softly

Then three wolves as black as night with piercing red eyes jumped over to Rouge’s cage and tried to bite her through the cage. She screamed and backed up to the middle of the cage. Shadow then walked in the room.

“I see the prisoners are awake.” Shadow said evilly

He snapped his fingers and the wolves backed away. He opened Rouge’s cage and cornered her. Then he pulled out a jagged sword and was about to kill Rouge.

“Don’t you dare....” Knuckles warned

“Hehe what are you gonna do, your mounted to a wall echidna.” Shadow said

Rouge was scared stiff. She started to cry. Knuckles was losing it he couldn’t stand it.


“If you touch a hair on her head, I Swire hedgehog....” Knuckles warned again

Shadow kicked Rouge and she curled up crying. Knuckles then lost it and let out a feral roar making Shadow jump. Knuckles’ violet eyes burning with the flames of internal rage. He broke free of the bloody restraints and charged at Shadow. Knuckles pulled Shadow away from Rouge and punched him in the face. Shadow kicked Knuckles as hard as he can in the stomach. Knuckles growled and stumbled back. Shadow took the chance and grabbed his sword and slashed Knuckles in the chest. Blood splattered on the floor. But that didn’t stop Knuckles from fighting to protect Rouge. The internal rage grew to the braking point. Knuckles charged and slashed Shadow in the face with his knuckle spikes. Shadow stumbled back and Knuckles didn’t stop. Shadow tried to throw a punch at Knuckles’ face but Knuckles bit his hand like a savage animal.
Rouge didn’t know what to do so she laid on the cage’s floor silently routing for Knuckles. Knuckles roared at Shadow like a savage animal.

“Kn-kn-kn-Knuckles you think you can defeat me” Shadow mocked

“YES, AND YOU WILL PAY FOR WHAT YOU HAVE DONE.” Knuckles roared.

“Chaos control!” Shadow yelled disappearing to sonic’s house

Then Knuckles fell on the metal floor with blood flowing from his mouth. The slash on his chest was causing internal bleeding, he lost to much of his blood........he was dying.

“Knuckie!!” Rouge yelled in terror.

“I*cough* l-l-love y-y-you Rouge.” Knuckles managed to say.

“No....no, no, no, NO!!!!!! DON’T LEAVE ME KNUCKIE I LOVE YOU.” Rouge yelled.

“Shhhhhh it’s ok Rouge please do me a favor and don’t cry for me.” Knuckles said rubbing her back trying to calm her down.

He started to cough up blood all over his muzzle. Then he closed his eyes and was at peace.
Rouge laid there and cried until Sonic, Tails, Amy, and Cream pulled her away.

“NO, NO IM NOT GOING TO LEAVE HIM.” Rouge cried struggling to pull out of Amy and Sonic’s grip.

“Miss Rouge Mr Knuckles is gone.” Cream said
